The firm was registered as Tan & Yap Advocates on the 9th day of February, 1984  by the founding partners namely,  Tan Teck Ong and Datuk Alfred Yap.  In 1991 Paul Tang joined the firm as a partner and the firm’s name was subsequently changed to Tan, Yap & Tang Advocates in January, 1994.
